| Definition or Description: |
Engaging in an activity that contributes to, increases, or enhances the understanding of, knowledge in one's formally recogniqed area of expertise (base profession). Conducting any form of research or engaging in creative activities apppropriate to the discipline. |
| Comment: |
In the arts Discovery/Creation activities may include endeavors that result in new modes or formats of artistic expression. Example: A sculptor who moves beyond traditional media of expression such as clay, stone, or metal and, instead, develops a technique to use lasers to create "sculptures" in the form of holographic images that appear to float in mid-air. |
