Definition or Description:

Maintaining currency and competency in one's formally recognized area of content expertise (BASE PROFESSION). Keeping up in one's field.

 

Comment:

Examples of activities within one's recognized area of expertise (base profession) that may enhance proficiency:

  • Pursuit of advanced degree(s) within one's content field;
  • Obtaining certification (if appropriate);
  • Participating in advanced seminars, workshops, etc., within one's content field;
  • Engaging in formal post-doctoral study;
  • Participating in Internships, Fellowships, etc., within one's content field
