DISSEMINATION (Meta-Profession)

Definition or Description:

Any activity that disseminates knowledge and information concerning one of the meta-professional roles of the professoriate (i.e., teaching, scholarly creative activities, service, academic administration) to a specific public or constituency. Such information may or may not involve information concerning the meta-professional's base profession or area of formally recognized content expertise.

Comment:

Examples include:

  • Publication of articles (both refereed and non-refereed)
  • Books, Monographs, Pamphlets
  • Paper Presentations
  • Keynote/Invited Addresses
  • Popular Press publications
  • Films and other types of active media (i.e., television, computer)
