Definition or Description: |
Activities
specifically associated with the faculty member's formally recognized
area of content expertise (base profession). |
|
Comment: |
In this context the term formally recognized refers to recognition by the educational institution of a faculty member's expertise in a specific content area. Example:
If a faculty member is hired to teach mathematics, then mathematics
is the formally recognized area of expertise. This is true even if the
faculty member may also possess a degree in some other field such as
music. If the faculty member is NOT hired to teach
music then, for the purposes of this definition, music is not
a formally recognized area of expertise. |
